Real Madrid's Ruben De La Red Outfitted With Mini Holter Monitor
(06.04.10)

Real Madrid's Ruben De La Red underwent a minor procedure yesterday to have a mini-Holster heart monitor implanted subcutaneously, according to Marca. It's a portable device that will continuously monitor various electrical activity of the central nervous system for at least 24 hours.
According to reports, De La Red will keep the device (also known as an ambulatory electrocardiography device) implanted during the next few months to monitor his heart condition that has kept him out of football for a year and a half after collapsing on the pitch in a Copa del Rey match at Real Union.
The device, which is no larger than a USB flashdrive, is the first step for De La Red to return to training with Real Madrid at Valdebebas as he continues his comeback attempt.
